Show choir is an active part of the Vocal Music Department of Jenks High School. Students who participate in the select groups maintain a busy rehearsal and performance schedule. Each one has a special focus but all maintain the tradition of excellence established in all areas of Jenks Vocal Music.
What are the Jenks Show Choirs?
Trojanaires – The advanced mixed group established over 40 years ago, that has received a large amount of national attention through recent concerts and competitions.
Trojanation – The intermediate mixed group formed to begin performing and competing at a regional level.
Treble Tones – The beginning group of performers, who while learning the basics of show choir techniques, perform/compete on local and state levels
What is the time commitment?
All Show Choirs add a zero hour class to their schedule which does not allow them to participate in any other activities between 6:45am-7:35am.
Morning class time varies for each group. This requires a family commitment for show choir students to attend all class times. Choreography teaching sessions take place during zero hour. Choreography sessions for Trojanaires and Trojanation will also be after school, evenings and weekends and will be announced in advance to make each extra required session a priority.
Trojanaires – MTWRF 6:45am-7:35am
Trojanation – MWF 6:45am-7:35am
Treble Tones – TR 6:45am-7:35am
What does it cost?
Show Choir members are ambassadors for Jenks Public Schools, but are entirely self supporting financially. Each member is responsible for obtaining their own funding to finance all music, musicians, choreographers, costumes, sets and travel expenses. Families need to become involved in group/individual fundraising activities.
The cost for each group includes but is not limited to the following: trip fees, music arrangements, professional choreographers, costume and care (not women’s character shoe), and a t-shirt.
Treble Tones: $350-$400
How do I audition?
Auditions will be in two parts: Vocal and Choreography, all students wishing to be a part of any JVM Show Choir must participate in both.
